There are always some crazy quirks when it comes to the NFL schedule, and this year is no different. Although the league office does its best to make all 32 teams happy, the fact of the matter is that making everyone happy just isn’t possible when you’re putting together a schedule that consists of 272 games.

Some teams will be happy about the quirks on their schedule while plenty of other teams won’t be.

So who got the craziest quirks? That’s a great question. Let’s find out.

Here are 20 of the weirdest quirks on the 2026 NFL

Amid a near-total teardown and early-stage rebuild of their roster this offseason, the Dolphins ensured at least one of their cornerstones isn’t going anywhere by agreeing to a four-year, $64 million extension with De’Von Achane last week, per CBS Sports lead NFL insider Jonathan Jones.

It was a “put your money where your mouth is” situation. The Dolphins had already traded away both Jaylen Waddle (Broncos) and Minkah Fitzpatrick (Jets) by the time new GM Jon-Eric Sullivan said unequivocally last month Achane wasn’t available for trade. Now, Achane has one of the largest contracts at his position.

The electrifying 24-year-old registered 1,838

The NFL has informed Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby that the date to file for the NFL supplemental draft is June 22, a source familiar with the situation tells CBS Sports.

Currently in a treatment program for a gambling addiction, the former five-star quarterback could see his NCAA eligibility revoked before playing a snap for Texas Tech after transferring from Cincinnati. Sorsby placed thousands of online bets, including some on Indiana football when he was a redshirt player there.

The gambling issues have sparked an NCAA investigation that could lead to a permanent loss of eligibility for Sorsby. That’s where the NFL’s seldom-used

The Las Vegas Raiders have been crystal clear about their quarterback room all offseason long.

Yes, they signed four-time Pro Bowl quarterback Kirk Cousins to what’s essentially a one-year, fully guaranteed $11.3 million contract in April, but the 38-year-old knew he was agreeing to join the Fernando Mendoza show weeks before Las Vegas officially selected the 2025 Heisman Trophy winner first overall.

“I do think Fernando is going to be a great addition to our team, and I think he’s going to have a great future in the league,” Cousins said on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” in April. “I have no

Renner’s 2027 NFL mock draft: Three QBs go in top five, including one unexpected name

You may have heard the 2027 draft class is a special one. I’m here to agree. The sheer number of stone-cold blue-chip prospects already in this class means it could give the historic 2021 and 2011 draft classes a run for their money.

The biggest question that still needs answering, though, is how the quarterback class will shake out. There’s plenty of talent at the position in college football, but nearly all of the top quarterbacks still have multiple years of eligibility remaining. If we don’t see major leaps from many of those prospects, they could easily return to school for

It took 22 years, but Eli Manning has finally revealed the details behind one of the biggest draft controversies in NFL history. Back in 2004, the Chargers made Manning the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, but he never actually played a down for them.

Over the past two decades, Manning had never really explained why he didn’t want to play for the Chargers, but that changed this week. During an interview on the “Bussin’ with the Boys” podcast, the two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback offered some new details about why he wanted nothing to do with the organization.

After four and a half years, the Jacksonville Jaguars can finally put the Urban Meyer era behind them. The two sides were battling over $30 million and after going through an arbitration process, the Jags have come out on top.

According to Brett McMurphy of On3.com, the Jaguars won the arbitration case after it was ruled that they were justified in their “for cause” firing of Meyer. If Meyer had won the case, then the Jags would have owed him the rest of the money in his contract, which was more than $30 million, but instead, Jacksonville owner Shad Khan will now
