Todd Downing will replace Nathaniel Hackett as the New York Jets‘ offensive playcaller going forward, interim coach Jeff Ulbrich announced Thursday.

Hackett will remain the Jets’ offensive coordinator, with Downing remaining as the Jets’ passing game coordinator, Ulbrich said.

It’s the first major decision made by Ulbrich, who was promoted to interim coach Tuesday when the Jets fired Robert Saleh after four seasons.

Ulbrich also announced that he will retain his title of defensive coordinator and remain the defense’s playcaller, he said.
