NFL sets 2025 salary cap at record $279.2M total

NFL teams were informed Thursday that the 2025 salary cap has been set at a record $279.2 million per team, league spokesman Brian McCarthy announced.

It’s an increase of $23.8 million per team. Last year’s salary cap was $255.4 million per team.

McCarthy also announced that projected player costs, including benefits, is set at $362.48 million.

An NFL team has submitted a rule proposal to ban the “tush push” quarterback sneak, Troy Vincent, the NFL’s executive vice president of football operations, told reporters at the scouting combine Monday.

Veteran safety Keanu Neal announced his retirement from the NFL on Sunday after eight seasons.

Selected in the first round of the 2016 draft by the Atlanta Falcons, Neal appeared in 89 games in his career. He made 69 starts for four different teams — the Falcons, Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Carolina Panthers and quarterback Andy Dalton reached agreement on a two-year, $8 million deal that includes $6 million guaranteed and has a max value of $10 million, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday.

WR Toney arrested, allegedly strangled woman

Wide receiver Kadarius Toney was arrested last week in Georgia on two counts, according to online records.

Toney was booked in a Douglas County (Georgia) facility on Feb. 6 on counts of aggravated assault — strangulation and obstructing/harassing 911 calls. A judge set a bail of $25,000 on each count.

Records show Toney was not in custody on Feb. 7.
