The Los Angeles Chargers on Wednesday night released five-time Pro-Bowler Joey Bosa.
Bosa had been with the Chargers since 2016, when they selected him with the No. 3 pick in the NFL draft. He was the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2016, and his 72 career sacks in the regular season rank second in franchise history (Leslie O’Neal, 105.5).
But Bosa had struggled to stay healthy in recent years, missing 23 games over the past three seasons.
The move saves the Chargers $25.36 million against their cap.
